What You’ll Need
- 250g of air dry clay (available in our Mini Clay Kit)
- Clay knife or any straight-edged tool (included in our kits)
- A small bowl of water
- Acrylic paint or marker (red is perfect for Valentine’s vibes!)
- Glaze for finishing
- Your favourite photo or Polaroid
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Roll the Clay
Roll out your clay to approximately 6–7cm in thickness. Aim for an even surface to ensure stability when your photo stand is upright.
Step 2: Cut a Semi-Circle
Using your clay knife, cut out a semi-circle. If needed, dampen your fingers with water and smooth the edges for a polished look.
Step 3: Create the Photo Slot
Stand the semi-circle upright and carefully cut a slit across the top edge where your photo will sit. Hold the front and back of the semi-circle with your opposite hand to maintain its shape. Smooth with some water and your finger.
Step 4: Let It Set
Allow the clay to dry for 24–48 hours. Make sure it’s fully hardened before moving on to the next steps.
Step 5: Smooth the Surface
Once dry, use a damp sponge or cloth to smooth any rough edges. This step is essential for a clean, professional finish.
Step 6: Paint and Personalise
Paint hearts, polka dots, or any Valentine’s-themed designs using the red paint included in your kit. Let the paint dry completely.
Step 7: Glaze It
Apply a coat of glaze to add a glossy finish and protect your design. Allow the glaze to dry thoroughly.
Step 8: Add Your Photo
