How to Make a DIY Abstract Wavey Stand

 

  

 

Hey Clayers! Get ready to get your hands dirty in making your very own super cute and easy DIY abstract wavey stand using air dry clay. This stand is perfect for displaying plants, candles, or anything else you want to add a bit of personality to.

What you'll need:

  • Air dry clay
  • Rolling pin
  • Craft knife
  • Acrylic paint (optional)
  • Paintbrushes (optional)
  • Glaze

Instructions:

  1. Roll out the clay. Roll out the clay on a cutting board until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Cut out the waves. Use a craft knife to cut out your plate outline in a wavy shape from the clay.
  3. Make the feet. Roll out three balls of clay to make the feet for the stand.
  4. Glue on the feet. Score the underside of the plate and the feet and glue on using a bit of water and slip.
  5. Let it dry. This may take anywhere between 1-5 days depending on the environment.
  6. Smooth. Using a wet sponge, smooth over any rough edges. Let it dry again.
  7. Paint (optional) Slap on your favourite paint colours
  8. Varnish. To protect the paint and your creation, add a coat of glaze.
  9. Let the stand dry. Let the stand dry completely before placing your favour items on the stand!
