FAQs
Does this clay need to be fired in a kiln or oven?
No kiln or oven is required! Our Mini Kit uses premium air-dry clay that hardens naturally within 24–48 hours depending on the thickness of your piece. It’s the perfect way to enjoy pottery from your kitchen table without needing professional equipment.
Is the clay and glaze food-safe or waterproof?
While our air-dry clay is incredibly durable for decorative items (like jewelry dishes, incense holders, or vases), it is not food-safe or 100% waterproof. To give your piece a water-resistant, glossy finish, we recommend adding our High-Gloss Varnish to your order.
What exactly comes in the Mini DIY Clay Kit?
This kit is a complete "pottery studio in a box." It includes 250g of premium air-dry clay, 5 wooden sculpting tool, a sponge for smoothing, a paintbrush, and our signature "Getting Started" guide as well as high gloss varnish. It’s designed to provide everything a beginner needs to make 1–2 small-to-medium pieces.
Is this kit suitable for kids or total beginners?
Absolutely! We designed this kit specifically for beginners and hobbyists. The clay is non-toxic and easy to manipulate, making it a fantastic sensory activity for kids (ages 5+) and a relaxing, creative outlet for adults. No prior "artist" experience is required.
How many things can I make with one Mini Kit?
You can typically create 2 small items (like a pair of coasters or a ring dish) or 1 medium item (like a small succulent pot or a sculptural vase). If you’re planning a larger project, we recommend grabbing an extra 500g Clay Refill Pack to ensure you don't run out!
Does the clay stain clothes or furniture?
Our clay is minimally messy and generally washes out of fabric and off surfaces with just a bit of warm water. However, we always recommend working on a placemat or a piece of baking paper to keep your workspace tidy.
How long will the clay stay fresh if I don't use it right away?
If kept in its original airtight packaging, your clay will stay fresh for several months. Once opened, be sure to store any unused clay in a tightly sealed Ziploc bag or airtight container to prevent it from drying out before your next "clay date."
Can I paint my clay creations once they are dry?
Yes! Once your piece is fully dry (bone-dry), you can use acrylic paints to add color. For a professional, ceramic-like look, finish it off with a coat of our Sunday & Clay Varnish to protect the paint and add a beautiful shine.
